Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption

Qualifying veterans get a 50% exemption on the first $200,000 of their primary residence's actual value. You must be honorably discharged and rated 100% permanent and total by the VA, or rated 100% due to individual unemployability (IU). Thanks to a 2022 constitutional amendment, Gold Star spouses (surviving spouses of service members who died in the line of duty) now qualify on the same terms. Military Retirement Tax Break

Colorado lets you subtract military retirement income from your state taxes, and the amount grows with age. Veterans under 55 can subtract up to $15,000 of military retirement income; ages 55–64 up to $20,000; and 65 and older up to $24,000. VA disability compensation is tax-free at every level.
